8 bit is a new documentary exploring the recent video game artistic movement. Whether it’s the recent visual works of I am 8bit, or the musical works of chiptuners out there, there is a definitive movement. Pixels, sprites, and the fantastical style of retro games offer an interesting canvas for artists to explore and contrast. Judging from the trailer, this documentary looks like it could be pretty good. It’s looks like it has some interesting interviews of very influential artists. I noticed Cory Arcangel was in the trailer, he has done a lot of interesting NES cart hacks and demos. There are a couple announced screenings in NY, which is pretty much to center of this movement. Hopefully we will get a chance to see it.
